Cause of thrombosis in patients with malignant brain tumors discovered

Patients with malignant brain tumors have an increased risk of thrombosis. Up until now, researchers have not understood the mechanisms behind this. Now an interdisciplinary study has now shown for the first time that a special protein called podoplanin is involved in the development of thromboses that form on the surface of tumor cells.  (Mehr in: Cancer News — ScienceDaily)
